Waddle

A community-driven event and place discovery platform that helps parents find, recommend, review, and book trusted children-focused experiences.

Product Overview

Waddle is a live multi-sided platform available on iOS and Android. It connects parents with trusted events and places for children, enables event organisers to manage listings and bookings, and provides admins with tools to moderate content, resolve disputes, and manage revenue.

The product was designed with safety, trust, and ease of use as core principles.

My Role

Product Designer - I led end-to-end UX and UI design across the parent app, organiser experience, and admin dashboard. This included research, user flows, wireframes, UI design, and collaboration with developers to support a live launch.

The Opportunity
  1. Parents need reliable ways to find safe, age-appropriate activities.

  2. Event organisers need visibility and simple booking tools.

  3. Admins need control over content, safety, and platform operations.

Most platforms only solve one side of this problem. Waddle was an opportunity to design a single system that balances all three.

The Problem

Parent Challenges

  • Parents rely on informal recommendations.

  • Existing platforms lack trust and moderation.

  • Parents want real community feedback before booking.

Because Waddle serves families and children, trust and safety were non-negotiable. Every feature had to support moderation, transparency, and real-world use at scale.

This product was designed for production, not concept validation.

Organiser Challenges

  • Organisers struggle to reach the right parents.

  • Booking management is often fragmented.

  • There is limited insight into performance.

Admin Challenges

  • Children-focused platforms require strict safety control.

  • Unmoderated content creates risk.

  • Disputes and revenue must be handled centrally.

Context

Because Waddle serves families and children, trust and safety were non-negotiable. Every feature had to support moderation, transparency, and real-world use at scale.

This product was designed for production, not concept validation.

Design Process

  • User interviews and surveys

  • Journey mapping across all user types

  • Low-fidelity wireframes

  • High-fidelity UI design

  • Usability testing

  • Iteration with development constraints

Research and Insights
  1. Parent Insights
Parents trust recommendations from other parents.
    Reviews strongly influence decisions.
Consent is important when booking children events.

  2. Organiser Insights
    Organisers want simple event creation.
    They need clear booking visibility.
    Too many tools reduce adoption.

  3. Admin Insights
All events and places must be approved.
Reported content must be resolved quickly.
    Revenue tracking must be clear.

Solution

Waddle was designed as a controlled community. Parents can contribute and interact freely, while admins ensure safety through approvals, moderation, and dispute resolution.

Parent App
Discovery and Home

Parents discover nearby events and places curated by relevance and community activity.

Reviews and Comments

Parents can leave reviews and comments to share experiences and build trust.

Reporting Content

Parents can report inappropriate reviews or comments for admin action.

Booking and Consent

Parents complete a consent form during booking to ensure transparency and safety.

Event Organiser
Event Creation

Organisers create events through a guided flow. All events require admin approval.

Booking Management

Organisers manage bookings and attendee details in one place.

Revenue Overview

Organisers view revenue related to their events without complex analytics.

Admin Dashboard
Content Approval

Admins approve all events and recommended places before publishing.

Moderation and Reports

Admins review reported comments and reviews and take action.

Dispute Resolution

Admins resolve disputes between parents and organisers.

Booking and Revenue Management

Admins oversee platform-wide bookings and revenue.

Outcome
  • Waddle is live on Apple App Store and Google Play.

  • Parents can confidently discover and book events.

  • The community actively contributes recommendations and reviews.

  • Organisers reach the right audience.

  • Admins maintain full control over safety and operations.

Key Learnings
  • Community products need strong moderation systems.

  • Trust must be designed, not assumed.

  • Balanced multi-sided experiences drive adoption.

Why This Project Matters

Waddle demonstrates my ability to design live, multi-sided platforms that balance user needs, business goals, and safety. It reflects strong product thinking beyond interface design.
